The Process:
The process of casting aluminum has been around for centuries. A wooden model of the piece to be created is carved and pressed
into casting sand to make an impression/mold. Molten aluminum is then poured into the sand mold and when the molten metal hardens and
cools, the sand is removed and the piece that is left is created in cast aluminum. Cast aluminum has become a favorite choice for outdoor and indoor decorative pieces and furniture; not only will it stand the test of time, but the process of sand casting allows for exceptional, beautiful detailing. Unlike cast iron, aluminum does not rust. Unlike concrete, aluminum will not crumble and is more easy to move.
While some companies talk about the age-old process of aluminum castings having "imperfections" that makes each & every piece "unique & individual" (which is somewhat true), we at Victorian Marketplace strive to remove these so-called "imperfections" while
maintaining the Old Style look of these Historical Replicas. We spend countless hours hand grinding, sanding, smoothing, and perfecting so you, the customer, receives the best possible casting your money can buy! When this perfecting process is complete, it is then and only then your merchandise is driven approx. 50 miles (one way), to a "Professional Powder Coater" to be painted.
Powder Coating is an advanced method of applying a decorative and protective finish to all types of materials and products. Because it
provides a stunning, durable, scratch-resistant finish to each product produced, powder coating is the process recommended and used by Victorian Marketplace (and it’s virtually pollution-free)! Victorian Marketplace can also hand apply verde gris or an antique finish to products after they are powder coated.
Colors:
Our most popular powder coating colors include: Gloss Black, Lava Black (looks somewhat like cast iron- less shine then gloss), Coppervein, Gloss White, Heirloom White (cream), Pine Green, Forest Green, Dark Hunter Green (very dark), and Ornamental Bronze. We also have textured paint: Rain Forest Spider Web, Textured Black and Sandstone. By special request we have even done an Eggplant color to match someone's shutters in Colorado. Our Powder Coater has numerous colors in stock. Send us your color sample, we will try to match it for you. Rarely do we have to charge extra for a requested color. (As our website develops, I will attempt to direct you to a "hyperlink sample" to each of these colors. Keep in mind that different computer monitors do not always display in the true color.)
